I had a very delayed flight, and the host was so kind when I finally arrived. She even gave me a bottle of wine to help me recover. It's a welcoming place in Ribeira Grande, with clean rooms, VERY comfortable beds and a friendly, helpful host. The price is very reasonable, too. It's a perfect base for exploring the north side of Sao Miguel. Breakfast isn't included, but there's a kitchen and free coffee, and I enjoyed eating on the terrace. There are good restaurants and grocery shops nearby, and the little church square next door has beautiful sunset views. I'll definitely stay at Costa Norte again when I return to the Azores.

Fred is a perfect host. He can tell you all about the island and point you to some great places to eat. The house is very clean, the rooms are quite spacious, and breakfast with freshly baked bread is really nice. A great place to stay.

A decent budget option, with everything clean and tidy, a well-equipped kitchen and a couple of shared spots to hang out. It feels somewhere between a hostel and a guesthouse. The host was really friendly, though we only saw her for about ten minutes at check-in. Our room was okay, but the two single beds pushed together to make a double were pretty uncomfortable, and we didn't sleep very well.

Fred's day planners made it easy to figure out what to do, and breakfast was a treat, with freshly baked bread, organic jam and fruit from the islands. We also enjoyed meeting the other guests. Had a great stay at Fred and Sandra's Costa Norte Guesthouse, and next time we'll stay longer. See you again!

I stayed here a couple of years ago, when this Guest House was just getting started, and still have lovely memories of it. It's great to see that it continues to keep such a high standard. Perfect in every way. Wishing you the best of luck!
