We loved the wild coastline, with its spectacular beaches, sand dunes and winding estuaries, and would really like to return to spend more time at VIda Pura. It's a great base for this part of the southwest coast. Our stay at Vida Pura exceeded what we'd expected. The spacious apartment was spotless and comfortable, with its own character, in a beautiful valley among rolling eucalyptus hills and cork trees. Mornings were peaceful, with birdsong and a breeze as we ate breakfast. There are even three donleys! Exploring the land and learning about the project's commitment to sustainability was inspiring. During an impromptu coffee break, people from the project explained water harvesting and the biodynamic ponds, which was fascinating. One evening, we visited the biodynamic swimming pond and listened to the frogs while spotting lots of dragonfly larvae and watching Orion drop behind a hillside. The yoga platform has wonderful views over the valley, and the pond is lovely to swim in. You can tell a lot of thought went into it.

Once night falls, it's properly dark, perfect for stargazing from your apartment terrace while listening to nature. This is a lovely place to rest and a good base for exploring the area. The Dutch owners run an eco-friendly, self-sustaining retreat in a small valley, and designed and built all the accommodation themselves. The multi-room guesthouse and three apartments are clean, comfortable and beautifully designed. There's a farm growing vegetables and herbs, plus donkeys, chickens, ducks, cats and dogs. The helpful, friendly staff make you feel welcome, and breakfast is served with love at reception.
