Casa dos Condes

We had a lovely time here. The house stays cool in summer, and some bedrooms also have air conditioning. There are courtyards, a big garden with shady trees by the pool, two sitting rooms, and a fantastic crypt-like dining room. The kitchen is fairly basic but has the main things you need. It’s close to several interesting towns, and the hot water and shower pressure were good.

The garden and saltwater pool gave the whole family a lovely place to unwind. Paula and Constanca were so helpful and quick to respond, with plenty of local suggestions. We especially enjoyed Estremoz flea market, paddle boarding and boating on the Barragem de Maranhão, and dinner at Mercearia Gadanha in Estremoz. The kids had fun making lemonade from the garden’s lemon trees and playing hide and seek through all the rooms. The historic house was spotless, with lovely outdoor spots for evening meals, and the May visit brought olive groves, cork trees and wildflowers in this beautiful, quieter part of Portugal. A magical stay.

Constança was so responsive all week, sharing local ideas and arranging taxis for one of our outings. Cano is a very quiet town, but we could relax at the villa, visit bigger nearby towns and go to a wine tasting. The house was lovely, especially the kitchen, and the BBQ was great. We also enjoyed the pool, garden and lemon trees. Would happily recommend it.

A brilliant spot for couples or families, with table tennis, bikes, billiards, foosball and a pool. The hostess was amazing.
