Residencial Portas do Sol

I stayed in room 9 and attached the view from its window. The room looked out toward the river and fortifications. It was very cloudy during my visit, and in the morning I could see clouds settling on the mountain top. I imagine the view would be incredible in the golden morning light when the weather is better. A good place to rest after a busy day. There's no breakfast, but free coffee is available on the ground floor.

We stayed two nights on our way back from Porto Portugal. The spotless room was on the top floor, with lovely towels and a fantastic bed. This is a detailed boutique hotel in a very quiet spot inside Fortaleza, with shops and plenty of restaurants nearby. The host was very nice, and it was great value. Two big grocery stores are within walking distance, and there's a very large open market on Wednesdays, also close enough to walk to.

I had a balcony room facing the street, and the view was incredible. The room and bathroom were clean, nice, and comfortable, and the owner was very kind. There's a TV in the room. For pilgrims, checkout was easy: we left very early and just dropped the key at the front desk. They don't provide soap or shower gel, which wasn't a problem for me but may be useful to know. I really enjoyed my stay in Valença.

The location is perfect, right in the old town, and we felt very welcome. The rooms were fine, and the lady and her little daughter Sofia were lovely. Great for pilgrims.
