Cantinho da Pedra

The only thing I wasn't keen on was how low the mattresses are. The pool, though, has a spectacular view and gets good sun from early morning until night. The houses were clean and had the essentials for cooking meals.

The owners were really kind and attentive, and I'd happily repeat the experience. It’s a good place to unwind, with roomy kitchen and living areas and nice bedrooms. It suited a family of four well. The bathrooms are very small, though, and it could use more air conditioning.

Bring some food and coffee capsules with you. The nearest supermarket is quite a way off, and there’s no regular coffee maker. I’d suggest the owner get one, since capsules cost a lot, aren’t very eco-friendly, and aren’t to everyone’s taste, especially in Portugal, where you can get some of the best cafesinho around. It’s a lovely spot with amazing views for a few days away. Get in touch with the person in charge at least half an hour before you arrive. The number is for the owner, who’s in Switzerland, and they need to call the person in Portugal who lets guests in, so it can take a while.

We were welcomed so well, and the chalets have incredible views. They’re a great fit for a family break, with very comfortable beds, especially the mattresses.
