Casa nas Serras

The terrace views were beautiful at breakfast, which was really good, especially the coffee and tea. Our room was amazing, and the hosts are genuinely lovely people. The pool looked inviting, though it was still too cold when we visited. We stayed here as a base, about two and a half hours from Lisbon and an hour and a half from Porto. We had a great time and would stay again if we get the chance.

Frederik and Angelique know the area well and gave us great tips for visiting Coimbra, including how to get there and where to park, and for seeing the Roman ruins of Conimbriga. Their dinner suggestions were spot on too, both local places they recommended during our two-night stay were a hit. We especially appreciated the care they put into looking after guests. Casa nas Serras is a charming, luxurious farmhouse they bought about ten years ago and completely renovated. The Belgian couple speak Flemish, English, French, Portuguese and Westvlomsch :-) The views are lovely, with a good-sized pool and hammocks. Most of the clean, modern rooms are below the house, so they stay cool in summer, and have little terraces overlooking the garden. Breakfast was generous and delicious, and there’s enough parking for everyone behind a closed gate. We had a wonderful stay and warmly recommend it.

The couple who run this guesthouse are lovely and speak several languages really well. Their tips from Frederik helped us plan visits around the area, including traditional stone villages and a river. The house and pool are great, and breakfast on the balcony was a lovely touch.

A beautifully restored old quinta, with excellent rooms and welcoming hosts. The mountain views from the pool make it a great spot for a relaxing holiday in central Portugal.
