Hotel Apolo

Breakfast is simple but perfectly good, and the rooms are clean and nicely equipped. I did notice the windows could use an update: wind whistles through the gaps, and they don’t block noise very well.

The location is the biggest plus. The main square, harbour, and ferry are about a five-minute walk away, with plenty of shops and restaurants for different budgets. The ferry to Ayemonte in Spain takes just a few minutes and costs a couple of Euros. Brits should remember their passports. The hotel is very clean, though it feels rather sterile, and the spotless rooms are dated and lack personality. Staff are friendly and speak good English. Breakfast is a decent continental spread with a small cooked selection, but the tea and coffee setup is basic. I also found the shower hard to regulate, with inconsistent water.

For a 3* hotel, this is a really nice place. The room was clean and had a little balcony, air conditioning I didn’t need, plus thoughtful extras like bottled water, a mini fridge, a roomy bath sheet, bath mat, and toiletries. Reception staff were polite, friendly, and spoke excellent English. It’s also well placed for a pleasant walk to the marina and main square. A very nice stay all around.

The location made it easy to walk to supermarkets, a bakery, restaurants, the sea, and SIM card shops, and the staff were very friendly. I arrived at Hotel Apolo after crossing over from Spain because it has secure motorbike parking, which matters when you travel by motorcycle. In late November, outside the season, the price felt fair and included breakfast. My clean, comfortable third-floor room had a balcony, a great firm bed, a hot shower, kettle, fridge, and air conditioning and heating that both worked perfectly.
