Hotel Bienestar Termas De Vizela

The beds are comfortable, the WiFi works well throughout, and breakfast is a good buffet. It’s a fairly standard hotel, though a bit overpriced for what it offers. Service can be slow, and the rooms get very cold in winter. The lift is slow too, with a fairly low weight limit, so a large group with lots of bags may need several trips or take the stairs.

The staff were sincerely apologetic, which was the one nice part of the stay. Everything else made for an awful experience, and I wouldn’t recommend it. There’s no sound insulation, so someone in the corridor sounds like they’re in your room. The towels are so thin they’re almost transparent. In the bathroom, tiles are cracked and the toilet brush is broken. We weren’t given the breakfast hours or even a WiFi password, and the internet doesn’t work. The minibar does work, oddly enough, but there’s only one key. Taking it with you turns off all the lights, including power to the minibar.

Breakfast was great on New Year’s Day, and the staff were friendly enough. The building is lovely, though the room could use some attention: the sink wouldn’t drain, the lamp didn’t work, the TV signal kept cutting out, and there was no hotel information.

The washroom is decent, though its cleanliness could be better. The rooms are small but clean, with a cabinet inside. Nearby, there’s a market, restaurants, and a railway station, which makes the location good. The downsides are that the safe has no cell inside and the LCD is too small.
