Dorisol Buganvilia Studio Hotel

We were there in December 2025. The hotel's upper pool looks out to sea, and you can sunbathe there even in winter. The water was cold, though some people did swim. The indoor pool was cooler than we expected too, and the pool hall itself could have been warmer. The whirlpool was a good place to warm up. There was no sauna during our stay, though I think one is planned for the future. Our ninth-floor room had such a great view that we could have spent the whole day on the balcony. The location was good. Parking costs extra, and there aren't any free spaces around the area, so using the hotel's parking seems the better option. Make sure to reserve it ahead of time. Breakfast was good, though the coffee wasn't very nice. We still enjoyed our stay and would recommend the hotel.

The rooms and facilities are the one thing this hotel gets right. The rooms are lovely, but the reception staff were unfriendly and sometimes hostile. They made several basic service mistakes, including not greeting guests and saying room numbers out loud, which raised a serious security concern. Breakfast was bland and uninspiring. There's a lot this hotel needs to improve, so I can't recommend it.

The gardens around Dorisol Buganvilia Studio Hotel are full of the lush greenery and flowers typical of Madeira. In Funchal, it's a convenient base for exploring the city and the island, and the location is good. The studio rooms are adequate and have what you need for a comfortable stay. Good value for Madeira.

The staff were great and helpful, and having an EV charger inside was really useful. The hotel is a bit dated, though, and the beds aren't good. We could also hear people making noise at the bar down the road until very late, so the sound insulation isn't great. Breakfast was lackluster. I would've thought Madeira bananas were a basic, but they weren't included. Apart from that, the place is about what you'd expect for its price range.
