Holiday Inn Express Asuncion Aviadores by IHG

There’s free coffee and pastries around the clock, which is a nice touch. The gym and pool are on the top floor; I didn’t use them, but they looked nice. It’s a good value and close to two shopping centers. The staff were friendly and helpful, and everyone I spoke with at the front desk could understand what I needed in English. My room was clean, though the bathroom had a slight smell that was very noticeable after the door had been shut overnight.

The front desk didn’t give us a very warm welcome, which was disappointing, so future visitors may want to keep their expectations in check at check-in. Otherwise, our family had a generally positive stay. The place was incredibly clean, and we really appreciated having parking and breakfast included.

The location worked well, with restaurants and shopping malls within walking distance, and the neighborhood seemed lively and relatively safe. Reception was straightforward to deal with and supportive. Since good business hotels in Asuncion are limited, I felt I had little choice but to stay here. The room itself was quite clean, but street noise was intense, especially early in the morning. The windows seemed to let in sound as if they were open. Breakfast was hectic and unpleasant. The selection was small, with no oatmeal and only sweetened cornflakes. The buffet felt too small for the number of guests, and something was always missing. The gym was fine for cardio, and there were dumbbells up to 25 kg. The multi-station was poor quality and hadn’t been maintained, so it wasn’t suitable for strength training. This express version of Holiday Inn didn’t meet the chain’s usual standards or expectations.

A quiet place with a great parking lot. It’s not far from Galeria Shopping and other shopping centers, and I’d highly recommend it.
