Hummingbird Hostel

Last night, a man in our dorm was masturbating in plain sight, touching himself through his underwear with no other clothes on. My boyfriend and I went to the hostel owner right after it happened, hoping to change rooms or get some kind of refund so we could move to another hotel. She stormed in, said no one had been masturbating, then yelled at us and called us crazy and other names. She refused both options, so we had to leave at 1 am. We're 24 and 25, from the US, and had only arrived in a new country the day before. The experience was traumatizing. She canceled our Booking reservation, so we can't leave a review there. I'm including a photo of the hostel to show we were there, since I'm sure the owner will say this isn't true.

I booked here, but left after seeing the room and the condition of the place. The room and bathroom weren't clean, and the facilities were old and in very bad shape. It's also somewhat outside the city, a bit far from all the shopping areas. I'd pay a little more for somewhere much more comfortable.

Silvia was a kind, helpful host, and the room was good. I liked the shared social areas, and the kitchen had everything we needed. Spending time with the puppy and dog while it rained was a treat. I only wish we'd stayed longer than one night.

The host was lovely and the kitchen was good, but we left after one night instead of staying the three nights we'd booked. There was dust and hair all over the floor, the bathroom was filthy, and the room had mold everywhere, close to a health hazard. It was so humid with such poor ventilation that the mold was made worse. Our socks turned brown on the tiles, and the linen didn't smell freshly cleaned. The ceiling fan seemed broken and had duct tape on it. There are two dogs at the hostel and they can be noisy. When we arrived, one growled very aggressively at my partner, which was concerning because we had to pass them every day. In ten months of travel, this was one of the worst rooms we've had. I wouldn't recommend this property.
