The Town Hotel Doha

The staff were a real highlight, especially Morris, the reception team leader. He went out of his way to make our stay better, and it made a difference. We also found the price very competitive for the area. Souq Waqif, Downtown Msherieb, and the Msheireb Metro station are all a short walk away, with the station making it easy to get to lots of places. The rooms were clean and comfortable, though they could probably use a small refresh. Would happily stay again.

The service was what made an already pleasant stay even better. Staff were knowledgeable, kind, and helpful whenever we needed them, and everything was clean. The location near Msheireb was great, too. A few things seemed more like management issues. We booked for two people but got only one large towel for the whole stay, and after housekeeping came we still had just one, with no small towels. The treadmill suddenly stopped while a customer was using it and nearly caused an injury. Staff quickly stepped in and took it out of service, but the gym equipment, along with several other items there, may need replacing. The sockets in both the bathroom and bedroom were poor quality and definitely need to be replaced, as does the TV.

The lobby felt cramped, and the hotel itself is quite modest. I stayed for three nights, but I don't plan to return. The room was an okay size, though sleep was difficult with a green light directly above the bed that couldn't be switched off. Cigarette smoke kept coming in from the hallway, and the pillows looked tiny on the King-sized bed. There was only one bathroom towel. Reception staff also seemed unsmiling.

The room was spacious and had good equipment, and the staff were pleasant. Breakfast was really poor, though, and we didn't get the second towel we asked for.
