Rolling Stone Hostel

The staff and other guests were lovely, and the staff were always happy to chat. The daytime check-in was already a bit difficult, though. You have to call a number posted on the door, and since we had no SIM card, we guessed the Wi-Fi password and called through WhatsApp. I wouldn’t recommend arriving after 10pm. There aren’t locks on the lockers, and there are fewer lockers than beds. Someone was assigned my bed even though my clothes were hanging from it. They said he’d only just checked in and gave it back to me, but the following night a girl who had just arrived said there’d been confusion over the bed and that she was meant to have mine. That would have been the second mix-up, which was concerning. There’s only one shared bathroom for everyone without a private room, so there was always a queue for the shower and toilet. I also saw them take a half-used toilet roll from the rubbish and put it back out for guests, which I found disgusting. Even with all that, it was a good stay.

We stayed just one night in two private rooms, and I really liked the hostel. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and we found a parking spot right in front. The neighborhood was very quiet and seemed safe, if that’s a concern for anyone. Our host, a blue-eyed girl whose name I’m sorry I forgot, was kind and gave us a city map with lots of useful information. She also helped us plan a trip to canyon seven ladders and suggested a short hike.

The location is nice, but getting in was really difficult. There was no clear direction to the entrance and no doorbell, so we had to shout for the owner. Once inside, it felt like we were bothering the owner's family instead of being guests. The storage lockers were too small, and the manager, or maybe the girl in charge, kept saying every bag had to go inside rather than on the floor. It was a struggle to get a backpack in and out, and there was no lock anyway, so what was the point? The shared room floor had just one bathroom with a toilet, which meant waiting all the time.

I hope this hostel has improved since I stayed a few months ago. The girl who welcomed us was genuinely nice and helpful, but the other host was very rude at night. I’m not sure if he was the owner, but he spent the evenings in the kitchen and common area yelling and arguing with the employee. The location was okay, though not the best. There was no Wi-Fi and no plugs in the room. The place was terrible.
