T5 Social

We love the resident cat, Mici. Such a gentle, unbothered little furry friend, and sometimes she quietly joins in with a bit of a performance during open stage nights. 😻 The bar and lounge are the real draw for me: friendly staff, interesting people, and a lovely, sociable atmosphere. There’s music in all sorts of styles, plus workshops, board games, trivia, themed nights, and plenty of chances to hang out. 🪇 I haven’t stayed overnight, so I can’t speak to the hostel itself, but the social side is wonderful.

Salva made check-in and check-out easy, and was attentive and helpful. The daily group activities gave the place a great vibe, and the kitchen and bathrooms were clean. I also liked the coffee, snacks, and drinks on offer. Best hostel I’ve stayed in. The room was especially good, with individual blackout curtains and a locker under the bed. 👏🏽

I spent just under two weeks here and had a 10/10 stay. The staff were welcoming and always happy to help with trip plans or share what they know about the city. A lot of locals come to the social events, which made it a great way to meet Romanians and learn about the country. There were activities almost every night, and it was easy to recommend the place to others. My one suggestion for T5 would be keeping the bar and social spaces open later than 11. Some nights I’d have preferred to stay with the group and have a few beers at the hostel instead of heading to the Old Town clubs.

The people were cool, and it was easy to make friends. I can see why locals come here, and I’m glad we stayed for our first visit to Bucharest because I could socialize without leaving the hostel. But as a place to sleep, I probably wouldn’t come back. It’s too lively and dirty. I’m severely allergic to cats, and they’re allowed to wander around whenever they want. My allergies got so bad that I was wheezing on the last night, even though I never touched a cat or sat near one. The visible dust and dirt made me feel like cleaning was lacking. There was nowhere clean in the bathrooms to put toiletries, so my friends and I had to take turns holding each other’s things while getting dressed. Showering or brushing your teeth in what feels like a house party every night is also a bit strange. If none of this bothered you, maybe you’re fine walking barefoot around hostels and staying up past 2 a.m.
