Great location, but the stay felt like poor value from the start. My partner and I paid 280 RON for one night, a little above market price, then another 60 RON per person for breakfast, which was a dismal experience. Only after paying were we offered a choice of rooms, and both smelled strongly of mildew. There was no fridge, kettle, or coffeemaker. When we asked for extra pillows, we got decorative throw pillows. The extra towels for the second person also smelled mildewy. The bed was comfortable and the room warm, so we tried to keep a positive attitude and wait until after breakfast to judge. The meal seemed worth no more than 20 RON and was small. I got one tiny espresso, then had to ask for another. It was served grudgingly, with an empty cream pod and an empty sugar packet stuffed inside. My partner's plate had a moldy tomato. As we left, the hosts ignored us completely, without even a "Mercí" or "mulțumesc." It was just sad and bad. The owners clearly don't care about the place.

They were still eagerly waiting for me when I arrived at 2AM, which says a lot about the welcoming hosts and staff. I was put in room #14, though they said an earlier booking would have meant a better room. I had booked only a few hours ahead, so that seemed fair. The bed was cozy and warm, the shower was steaming hot with strong water pressure, and the garden greenery made for fresh air. I'll definitely stay again.

The rooms look old, though they have a nice character and that's fine. What made sleep difficult was how much noise came through from the floor and next door. Some younger guests nearby made noise and walked around until 4 a.m. The welcome itself also felt rather cold, and we didn't feel especially welcome.

On this year's stay, I had a bad and unexpected experience. The bathroom fixtures and the rooms need repairs. Also, under the new owner's decision, a solo guest has to pay for a double room. And a small thing that still bothered me, coffee at breakfast costs extra.

The prices were fair, the food was excellent, and the accommodation was great. The staff were very capable and attentive. When I come back to Romania, I'll stay here again.
