Meteor Central

We went to Cluj in February 2026 for important business and picked this hotel for its central location and Booking rating. That was a huge mistake. There were plenty of parking spaces, but no parking for us. On a Friday night in central Cluj, we only found a spot far away by sheer luck, then had to carry our luggage all the way to the hotel. Finding the place was a challenge too, since it sits in a courtyard. A closed kitchen or restaurant right by the entrance filled the courtyard with food smells, and the smell was just as bad inside. We paid before they showed us our rooms, which felt like a rip-off. The king-bed room was listed on Booking.com as 20 square metres, but ours was only 9. The front door was worn out and almost hanging off its hinges. The toilet tank made a strange noise while filling, and the old, shabby bathroom door didn't match the room. There was only one outlet, hidden behind the bed. Not one TV channel worked during our three-day stay, and planes flew overhead at different times every night, making a lot of noise. The furniture looked as though some street man had painted it with a brush, not a professional. With every step on the floor, I felt as if I were crushing cockroaches. Weird! Breakfast was nothing special, just eggs, ham and some salad. Maybe there are decent rooms, judging by the Booking photos and other comments, but we didn't see them even though we paid for them. Booking gave this miserable three-star hotel an 8.3 rating, but to me it's not even a hotel. It feels more like a zero-star hostel. Avoid it!
