El Locanda Boutique Hotel

I left after the first night and found another hotel for the same price that was clean and decent. This place was awful. The room and bathroom were dirty, there was a sewer smell they tried to mask with chemicals, and the room was beside a sewer. There was nowhere to put my things, and the bed was very uncomfortable. There was no reception, even at 8 in the morning. When I arrived, I was left outside my room and then blamed for it. The owner ignored requests for help. I felt they only wanted to take my money, with no empathy or willingness to assist. I wouldn't send my worst enemy here for even one night.

The sea-facing terrace is large, and the room itself was spacious. The hotel is right by the beach, with access to its pool, and breakfast is served on site. I slept well on a great bed with a comfortable mattress and bedding. Reception staff were very nice. This was my second visit, and I'll definitely come back.

The sea view was the one nice part. I stayed four nights and the room wasn't cleaned once. The breakfast was a joke for the price: one egg, the cheapest processed cheese, and canned pâté. The staff didn't speak English. At first the room looked nice, but then the poor workmanship became obvious. There was dust everywhere, hair in the shower, mould in the bathroom, and insects coming from beneath the balcony window. The balcony had never been cleaned. The shower needed plumbing work, and the toilet leaked.

The location is the strongest point: right by the beach and centrally placed, so Bolt or Uber can get you around fairly quickly and cheaply. There's free parking, which I'd use and then avoid driving around: the roads have unfinished projects, potholes, exposed manholes, and missing sections. The drop between road and parking is steep, so low cars shouldn't try it. The beach gate at the back was dead bolted. The staff were friendly, smiling, and helpful, probably the best part of the stay. They seemed to be riding a sinking ship. Three stars for the workers, one without them. There was no turn down service. Our jr suite seemed to have been a kitchen before. A wardrobe was put in front of a tiled wall with holes and gas and water pipes. The bathroom looked unfinished, with uncovered screw holes and messy patching in the tiles, and some tiles weren't caulked. The sink faucet was too small and too close to the edge. The shower tower was so high that, at my height of 1,73m, the massage jets would hit me in the face if switched on by mistake. There were bugs everywhere and a pond or swamp smell. The room was shabby and dated. Wallpaper peeled off, and much of the furniture was damaged and poorly maintained, even if they were aiming for a vintage look. The TV was the worst 'smart tv' I've seen. I brought my streaming device because many places don't support all my apps, but this one was a letdown. The bed was very uncomfortable and low; when we checked, it was a folding bed inside an empty bed frame with a mattress on top. Breakfast was a slap in the face. The meat and cheese were slimy, some with weird brown edges like they'd been sitting in lunch meat juice and starting to turn. The bread was stale and untoasted. Maybe that sounds picky, but I'd give any place five stars for putting out cereal or fruit. The coffee was good, though I didn't come for coffee. Please save your money. The photos make it look great, but this isn't the move.
