Pension Hanul Andritei

We had more than 180 people at our celebration, and the venue could accommodate a party of that size really flexibly. The service was incredible, and the food was fantastic. There were five main courses over the evening, plus little pop-up tables for whisky, sweets, and other things. They also helped arrange the drinks supplier and book the musicians. The night began at 7 pm and carried on until 8 am, and more than 30 of our friends stayed at the hotel for a few days. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the service was great. Thank you for a wonderful night.

The design is great, the rooms are spacious with quality furniture, and the staff are friendly. Still, there are several problems. Some room features weren’t working, including an AC unit that wasn’t wired, though those seemed like minor issues that might be fixed soon. The moldy smell in the upstairs bathrooms and the lack of an elevator seem less likely to get an immediate fix. Guests are expected to carry their luggage upstairs, even though the accommodation is mainly for local events and other check-ins aren’t expected. The Caterpillar diesel-electric power unit is very loud, and rooms facing the ballrooms are noisy despite their soundproof windows. Recommended, but those issues are worth knowing about.

The wedding hall looks nice, but I was very disappointed with the food and drinks, especially given how much the menu costs. The pork served with mashed potatoes shocked me. It was canned meat, which I found unacceptable. The earlier dishes weren’t good either. The fish roe salad was oxidized, the chicken salad tasted odd, as if the meat had been prepared a day or two ahead, and the gelatin in the middle seemed unnatural and added nothing to the plate. The chicken with gorgonzola tortellini and sauce was a little dry, and the sauce had no taste. The cabbage rolls weren’t very tasty, either. The bar drinks were below expectations. I asked for an Aperol Sprits and got the worst cocktail of my life. The shots were disappointing too. The cocktails were poor quality, which can happen when the recipe isn’t followed or the person making them lacks experience.

A clean, pleasant hotel close to Craiova airport. It’s very handy for a night before a flight.
