Hotel Unirea

The room was clean, the staff spoke English, and the hotel has free private parking. It's also close to the city centre, shops and restaurants. But the room didn't match what was advertised on Booking. I had specifically booked one with air conditioning and a fridge, and when we arrived late in the evening, our room had neither. The receptionist apologized and said not all rooms have AC, none were available, and we could open the windows. I'd booked in advance expecting air conditioning, and didn't want to pay for a room where the solution was an open window. Since it was already late, we stayed the night rather than look elsewhere. There wasn't a kettle or even a cup in the room. I needed boiling water for medicine, but the hotel couldn't provide that either. Wi-Fi only worked in the lobby, and even there it was very slow. With the windows open, the city-centre location was noisy until late at night. The interior and bathroom also felt outdated, as if they hadn't changed since Soviet times and needed renovation.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and the location beside Unirii Square is good. The rooms are very basic, though, which is what you'd expect from a two-star hotel. On the upper floors, hot water takes a few minutes to come through.

The hotel is in a really good location, but the rest was awful. The kitchen was very dirty, with flies everywhere, and some people in our group had to keep going to the bathroom after eating the food. Almost none of the staff spoke English. If you're thinking of eating at the hotel, I strongly recommend you don't.

The price per night is far too high for what the hotel offers. The rooms were dirty, especially the bathrooms, and the hallway smelled of cigarette smoke. The receptionist spoke meanly to me and my colleagues. The food was horrible. The french fries were edible, but the rest wasn't. At least we had hot water in the shower, so there's that.
