For a 2-star hotel, it was pretty decent. The sheets and towels were clean, the room had an old but working AC, and the bathroom had been renovated. Other parts of the building were really old and broken, and I also saw a cockroach on the wall.

Breakfast was poor in both amount and quality. The receptionist spoke only Romanian, and my check-in took about 20 minutes. Vlasca itself is run-down, gray, and miserable. The room was so-so, with just one working electrical socket, and it was almost impossible to get the shower water to a comfortable temperature.

After traveling all day, I arrived around 10 p.m. and found a loud party downstairs at reception that carried on until 2 or 3 a.m. The hotel apparently tried to call me on arrival day to warn me, but by then it was too late to arrange somewhere else. The conditions were poor: water leaked everywhere during showers, the mattress and bedding were old, and there were no blackout curtains. Absolutely terrible.

The location was really good and the one-night price was great, but our bathtub was broken and water went everywhere. I nearly fell twice. The Wi-Fi was very fast, but I'm not coming back to this hotel. Two stars.

After dark in summer, the mosquitoes will come after you, so bring repellent. The place is near Alei Park, Tudor Vianu Theater, and Teohari Antonescu Museum. For food or some R&R, there are good spots around the Clock Tower. A short visit, close to the old Keep.
