We’ve stayed at Pensiunea Octavian several times. It isn’t especially impressive in its architecture or luxury, but it’s a practical, well placed base for exploring the Bucegi Mountains. You’re right in the heart of the massif, with easy access to hikes such as Omu Peak (2,505 m), the highest summit in the Bucegi Mountains. In warmer months, it works well for mountain biking, and in winter it’s a good spot for ski touring. The rooms are basic but clean, warm and comfortable enough to rest after a long day outside. The atmosphere is relaxed and functional. The host is friendly and welcoming, and having a restaurant downstairs is a real plus. You can get very good, tasty meals there without heading elsewhere after a day in the mountains. The price, quality and location balance is excellent. This is a useful base for mountain adventures, not a luxury stay.
