Hotel Insula

The hotel is still fairly close to the beach, though you do have to walk a bit to reach the sea. The breakfast is okay, but there seems to be less of it now, and sometimes the food I want isn’t available. The restaurant prices are absurd, and its hours are strange, with it closed for almost half the day. Rooms aren’t as clean as I remembered: bathrooms aren’t cleaned daily, and you only get fresh towels and bedsheets if you ask. I’ve stayed here for several years, but this year’s experience left a sour taste. The empty skeleton of the new section they’re building is visible at check-in and wrecks the vacation mood. The staff have become much less welcoming. They bluntly ask for full payment upfront without making an effort to be nice, and they no longer offer help with bags despite there being no elevator. The old building still has the same furniture it’s had for at least 20 years, and they didn’t even give me the leaflet with breakfast hours and the wifi password. I don’t recommend the place anymore after this year.

I’ve been coming back every year since 2019, and I’m very pleased with everything. The lake-side room has a great view, and the food and cleanliness are both very good. Recommended for anyone who loves nature, quality, and comfort.

The place is green and full of vegetation, and the service is great. In the evenings you can hear all the little frogs singing by the lake, but they don’t really bother you with the window closed. You can watch the sunrise from your room or down by the lake :D. The staff are very nice.

The only drawback is that the new building is a little noisy. The hotel itself is kept very clean, and the staff follow Covid-19 pandemic safety standards. The rooms are large and well equipped, the hospitality staff are trained, and the food is very good, especially the traditional Romanian fish cuisine.
