The owner was easy to reach and really friendly. I booked three nights and had a great time there.

The host made us feel very welcome, and we used the kitchen for breakfast each morning. Our room was tidy and smelled fresh, with a little fridge, and they provided shampoo. The beds and towels were perfectly clean.

The layout was a problem from the start. There are three entrances to the yard, and depending on which part of the building you're in, you have to go out onto the street to reach the kitchen. Our two-bed room felt like a basement, with a tiny window. The outside ladder ran past our windows, so anyone walking by could see us in bed. The rooms also smelled, and the building seemed carelessly put together. We went three nights without hot water. They said other guests were showering, and we were on the top floor. I can't understand the average four-star rating. Maybe the five-star reviewers were the owners or people used to sleeping on the street. Never again.

The owners were kind, decent people, and that earned them an extra star from me. Some of the rooms are fine, but others seem improvised just to squeeze in more guests and bring in more money. My room was so low that all I could see was a staircase, and there was a bad smell. Some rooms are far too small for an adult to move around in. The bathroom pipe leaked and left the floor flooded, and the TV had reception trouble. The price was high compared with what else the city offers.
