I wouldn’t recommend Pensiunea Eliza. Check-in was unclear, with no reception or instructions, so you have to call the owner. Our room was in the basement, and the walk to the center was steep and tiring. The Wi-Fi didn’t work. When I calmly raised it because we needed to work, the owner was rude and told us to find another hotel. Later, he accused me of not wanting to pay when I was only checking whether the Booking.com payment had gone through, which it hadn’t. I asked several times for him to stop speaking to me that way and just charge me if needed, but he kept at it. The whole exchange felt uncomfortable and unprofessional, and we felt unwelcome. I’ve travelled to many places and never had an experience like this. He was aggressive and disrespectful, and other reviews suggest I’m not the only one who’s had this kind of experience. It’s not cheap for the poor quality, and I’ve stayed in budget hotels where staff treated guests with respect, even when the rooms were basic. Here, the cleaning lady walked into our room without knocking and stood in the bedroom, which showed little respect for our privacy. There’s only one expensive restaurant nearby. I recommend spending a little more somewhere decent. Not recommended for the no Wi-Fi, rude communication and inconvenient location. After the owner replied, I’m adding this: it’s an absolute lie that he offered to let us leave without paying. He got furious, shouted at us and told us to leave the hotel. It wasn’t kindness, he was aggressive and disrespectful. His replies to bad reviews already show how rude, defensive and unprofessional he is. He shouldn’t be running a hotel.
