Terra Resort

For what you pay, the service really needs to improve. The room and accommodation itself were nice, but the poor service overshadowed that. The driveway was covered in mud and the grounds looked like a construction site. When we arrived, our room door wouldn't lock. We called the service line, the only way to reach anyone from the hotel, and were told someone would come check. In the end, someone from the downstairs restaurant told us to slam the door to make it lock. A few minutes later we got a text saying the lock worked just fine. Apparently, slamming a door is normal? At the restaurant we tried to order pasta, but were told there wasn't any, so we got chicken that had no flavor. Several people around us were eating pasta. When we raised it while paying, the woman said only some pastas weren't available. After we pointed out that she'd said none were available, she changed her story and said only children could order pasta, even though two adults were eating it. A horrible “resort”, not worth a single star.

I stayed at Terra Resort in Toplița, Harghita for three nights, Sept 18-21, and was very impressed. It’s beautifully set in the mountains, with peaceful surroundings and stunning views. The staff showed excellent hospitality, sharing helpful local tips and taking care of every detail. Our room was spotless, comfortable and well furnished, and the facilities and services exceeded my expectations. A great choice for a mountain retreat. I gladly give Terra Resort a 5-star rating and would gladly return.

The location is beautiful, and the outdoor hot tub was a lovely experience, a kind of hot jacuzzi with -8 degrees C outside. The stay had some frustrating problems, though. My son slept on a broken sofa bed that creaked whenever he moved, so he had poor sleep for all 3 nights. The owner took 1 day to respond and offered no solution. Communication was difficult, especially because the internet network was affected by poor signal in this somewhat isolated place. Breakfast was included in the reservation but wasn't provided. If you came down after 09:00 in the morning, there wasn't much left, and they didn't restock, though perhaps you could ask. Sometimes they ran out.

We had the best vacation with our three kids and loved every second. The resort was amazing, with great facilities, and the hot tub was a big success. Our room was very clean, and the owner was so nice and helped with everything we needed.
