Hotel Europolis

I stayed three nights at the beginning of July. The hotel itself is clean and modern after its refurbishment, but the staff's attitude was another matter. They seemed lazy and uninterested in making guests feel welcome. The cleaning lady asked whether I wanted the room cleaned, and when I tried to order food at the restaurant, nobody came over for almost 10 minutes, even though I could hear staff talking in the back. Breakfast was buffet style only at weekends because there were no guests during the week.

We were generally happy with the hotel, and it wasn't expensive. The apartment was large, clean and fresh, with two separate bedrooms, two bathrooms, a nice living room and a large shared balcony. There are parking spots on the street in front of the hotel, and the Danube and city centre are within walking distance. It took several minutes for the shower water to get hot, and the air conditioning in one bedroom didn't work.

I left and packed up after the manager, who was full of herself, gave me attitude when I complained. I'd clearly asked not to be disturbed, but they entered my room while I was out anyway. The balconies were filthy, the beds felt a hundred years old and were very uncomfortable, and the old carpet smelled moldy. As a foreign tourist, I'd recommend Hotel Insula 1000%. The staff are super nice and it's very modern.

We got good value for the price, and breakfast was included with a good variety of morning choices. We had no parking issues in May, with plenty of on-street spaces. Our two-bedroom, two-bathroom suite was clean and comfortable. The hot water was a little inconsistent: one shower had it and the other didn't, but with two bathrooms we were fine.
