The hospitality really stood out. Everyone was friendly, smiling, and great with the service. The restaurant faces the lake and serves tasty food and drinks. Makutano Club & Resort sits up a small hill, so there’s a great panoramic view of Lake Kivu. The rooms are spacious, with amenities including WiFi and a terrace where you can have drinks any time of day. Definitely one to consider staying at in Gisenyi.

Makutano Club and Resort is by the shores of Lake Kivu in Gisenyi, Rubavu, Western Rwanda. It offers rooms, food, and drinks, with security and internet, and has a 24-hour front desk. There are 35 accommodations, and housekeeping is daily. Bed sheets can be changed on request. The property has a restaurant, bar and lounge, snack bar, and coffee shop or cafe. Tea is available in a common area, and there’s also dry cleaning. Free full breakfast, WiFi in public areas, free self parking, and a manager's reception are listed among the offerings. There’s also open-air catering space on the property.
