Civitas

The staff were very kind and welcoming, and the hotel is clean and nicely located near Kismenti area of Kigali. But the TVs didn't work, there was no Aircon, and Wi-Fi was very weak and only available in a few rooms. Breakfast is far too basic for a 3 star hotel: no cereals, just African tea and two slices of bread with no spread or jam. You can choose a boiled egg, fried egg, or omelette.

I never stayed at the hotel, so can't speak to that. For a long time, though, this was my regular place for beef brochettes and chips. The food was excellent, some of the best I've had in Kigali, and their brochettes can't be beat.

Civitas hotel is in the heart of Kigali, near the Kigali national airport and stadium. It's a good place and not expensive compared with the neighboring hotel. You can come with friends, family, and children.

There's a fairly priced bar and restaurant, and three room types: Single, Double, and the Civitas room. In Jan 2016, they cost 70, 80, and 100 US$ respectively. Lovely place.
