Rand's House I Homestay

We loved the local family dinners, and one of the fish meals we had on an island was the best of our lives. Monica and Norbert made us feel so welcome and gave us a more authentic experience of life in Rwanda. We also enjoyed hiking around the twin lakes with Monica. Thank you for hosting us, and say hi to Nikka and Kala ❤️

The room is small and humble, but clean and well cared for, and the bathroom was cleaned regularly. There were water outages, though we always had enough water to wash and flush. Homemade breakfasts and dinners are available. Norbert and Monica speak great English, and from the moment we arrived, we felt like we were visiting distant family. They’re kind, helpful, and happy to advise or help plan trips, including a Twin Lakes hike I highly recommend. The kids are friendly and well behaved. I’ve been to Rwanda twice and stayed in more than 10 hotels, and this was the best one. Thank you, Monica and Norbert, for such a warm welcome.

Monique and her family made my stay wonderful. It’s nice, quiet, and clean, and you can also get a feel for Rwandan culture and family life if that’s something you want. Monique cooks wonderful Rwandan food too. Thanks for a great time, and see you next time!

Breakfast at 6 am made it easy to reach the Volcanoes National Park headquarters. The freshly cooked breakfast and dinner were both included, and the room was clean and comfortable. The hosts were very welcoming. This is one of my favorite places I’ve stayed, and it deserves many more visitors. I’ll definitely come back if I’m in Musanze again, and recommend it to friends.
