Shafa Abha Hotel

The mountain scenery is great from the rooms and the hotel terrace, and there's a lovely private road leading up to the hotel. It's in the heart of the city, though you can't see the hotel directly from the street. The hotel is well designed, with dedicated, ample parking, and the staff were good. Rooms aren't the cleanest, but they are cleaned. Finding a quality hotel in Abha has always been a challenge for me. There are lots of Furnished Apartment places with poor views and prices I can't accept. Many seem to be former residential buildings converted for this use, and you can see the marks. I still need to review the restaurant.

The restaurant food was good, and the price was reasonable, though we were the only guests there. The staff were nice and friendly apart from those in the beverage section. We had room 462. The hand-wash-basin leaked, the shower had almost no water, and the carpet was covered in stains. The Shafa Hotel feels completely dated and needs a major update. It used to be 4*, and now feels like 2*. If they keep asking 620 SAR/night, they'll need to step up to attract international tourists.

The view is amazing, and the AC works great. The room was clean, and they do turn down service. The receptionist was great and helped a lot. It's a nice 2 stars hotel, but it could be improved. There's no mini-bar or snacks, the water pressure is bad, and we had to switch rooms because of an issue with the water heater.

I had a lovely little balcony looking out over the mountains, and the view from my room was amazing. The hotel is in a prime location. Once tourism takes off in Saudi, I'm sure someone will transform the place into a five star hotel with better facilities, furnishings and food.
