Al Hamra Jeddah Managed by Accors

This is Alhamra hotel, not the Hilton, and it’s been serving guests for almost half a century. The place is legendary, though it could use renovation in some areas. The downstairs lobby is great but can get crowded. It’s definitely an economical hotel.

My 2014 stay at Al Hamra hotel was disappointing. For a week, there was no complimentary drinking water, and the charging points were lacking. The TV channels were limited too. Staff responded poorly and showed little empathy, which made the experience worse. It didn’t seem to meet industry standards or provide a satisfactory stay. I wouldn’t recommend it if you want somewhere comfortable and pleasant.

There are plenty of restaurants right outside, and the hotel’s food was nice when I ate there. I only wish they served rice at breakfast. The rooms were nice, and although I saw a notice about renovations for added comfort, I didn’t hear any noise or find the work disruptive. It’s in a convenient spot near a huge shopping mall, a supermarket, and lots of restaurants.

My family and I had a very disappointing stay. On our first day, the suite was in terrible shape: stained walls and carpet, an AC we couldn’t adjust, used toilet paper, a broken flush, and stained towels. I called the hotel manager, who promised to fix things, but two weeks after checkout there’s still been no response from management. The service was the worst I’ve experienced at a hotel.
