Western Lamar Hotel

The price was far too high for what we got. There’s no proper parking, and the spaces aren’t shaded. The carpet had raised ripples that felt dangerous. The hallways smelled really damp and unpleasant. Our room had a sewage smell, which I think came from the blocked drain, and the bathroom mould was disgusting. One bathroom had plumbing trouble: dirty, stagnant water wouldn’t drain, so we couldn’t shower there, and even the stand-in shower didn’t work properly. The room also hadn’t been cleaned well after the previous guests. We’ve had two peaceful, comfortable nights of sleep. The place is nicely decorated and organised, though I think the master bedroom has extra furniture that doesn’t fit well. Smoking isn’t prohibited in the rooms. On our previous visit the hallway was smoky and the room smelled of smoke, which put us off. Maybe that has been fixed, because we didn’t have that problem this time. The receptionist couldn’t speak English when I tried to explain our experience by phone and again as we left, and she wasn’t welcoming. We’re staying here now and are surprised by how much the place has gone downhill. Please see the pictures.
