Selat Al Bait Hotel

We paid 240 SAR a day for a four-bed room through Hotels.com, breakfast included, during the busy period of December 22-26. Even with taxi rides costing 20-25 SAR each, about 10 minutes to the Haram, the price felt like a great deal for the service. The rooms were clean and tidy, if a bit small, and service was prompt. Breakfast had plenty of choices. The shuttle was well organized and we could get a seat, though the walk from its drop-off point was a drawback. I mostly took taxis.

The shuttle made the trip to the Haram easy, and taxis were always available outside too. It is a little far away, but getting around wasn’t a problem. I was unsure about booking Selat Al Bait because the low price made me wonder if there was a catch. The place turned out to be clean and comfortable, from the rooms to the lobby and shared areas. Everyone we dealt with, including reception and café staff, was pleasant, welcoming, and helpful. The stay was smooth and much better than I expected for the price. I’d book it.

The distance to the Haram was manageable thanks to the free shuttle. Breakfast had a wide selection and felt worth paying for, and the hotel was good value overall. The service was excellent. I’d recommend it to anyone staying in Makkah.

The room and breakfast were good, but there were serious problems during our two-night Umrah stay shortly after Ramadan. Before Fajr the next morning, staff had washed the entrance and left the floor and stairs wet without a warning sign. My mother slipped on the stairs and was bruised, though luckily nothing was broken. The advertised shuttle to the Haram had been cancelled after Ramadan, the receptionist told me when I asked about the next one. It was still listed on the hotel website. When I raised this with management, they were defensive, didn’t apologize, and showed no sense of customer service.
