Al Rayyan Hotel

It's a bit far from masjid nabwi, but a workable choice if your budget is tight. The hotel provides shuttle service if you enable it in your package.

The whole staff, just three people, were completely unprofessional and took no responsibility for bad service. There's broken stuff in the rooms and washroom, and the fridge doesn't work. Food is no good, either. Far, far from your destination, Masjid Nabavi. For me, there's nothing good about this hotel. Unlike other hotels' regular pick-ups and drop-offs, this bus picks up from the hotel at asar and drops people off after isha. If you need to come back early for a medical reason, you have to hire a taxi yourself, for 10-15SR. Third class hotel.

The location is good, but the rooms smell and feel really cramped. Food quality is very low, too.

The area is quiet, the streets are clean, and the reception team was helpful. Quba masjid is within walking distance, while Masjid al Nabawi is about a 15-minute drive away. Uber is available, and local taxis may cost 10 to 20 SAR depending on the time and your negotiating skills. The Haramain high speed train station is 18 minutes away, which is handy for travel to Makka and Jedda. I came to Madina for a spiritual retreat, but the room standard was poor compared with places at the same price in Makka. Our room was dirty, the sink had greenish brown residue and smelled of smoke, and there were no towels. The manager was kind and supportive when I raised the issues, and upgraded us to a spacious suite with a living area and bedroom, despite its quaint decor. There is no official luggage storage, so arriving before your booking could be awkward. Staff may be able to help with bags, or you can ask about a room available on arrival.
