Chez Payet Guesthouse

The terrace was a nice spot to watch birds, and there are useful things close by: a bus stop, several supermarkets, a takeaway and a small market selling fruit and vegetables. Chez Payet is very well located near the airport. The apartment was bright and spacious, with a large, comfortable bed and a kitchen equipped with everything you need. Highly recommended!

The owner was very helpful, and there are shops and bus stops nearby. Mahe airport is about a 15-minute walk away, while Anse Royale beach takes around 10 minutes by car. An ideal place to stop over.

Think of this as renting a room in Rodney's house, a bit like AirBnB, rather than staying in a hotel or B&B. The free pickup and dropoff at the airport is a real plus. Transfers elsewhere nearby are pricey, so it saves at least SCR150 per journey. Rodney was pleasant to deal with. Our ground-floor room was very spacious, with separate living and sleeping rooms plus a kitchen area. The WiFi was decently fast and the AC worked well. The rooms are very basic, and at 100 euros I don't think they're worth the price. You're paying for the convenience of free transport and a cheap place to crash, since normal hotels cost more. The bed was a little firm, and traffic noise comes through because the room is next to the road. After 10pm, though, there's almost no traffic and it feels like a village. At 60 to 70 euros, I'd consider it a good 4 or 5 star stay. At 100 euros, I'm a reluctant customer. Still, there aren't many options if you're transiting with a late incoming flight and an early morning flight.

We needed twin beds and ended up with a huge family room. Even the fridge had the essentials stocked. It felt like being at home, so yes, I’d definitely stay here again.
