JA Enchanted Waterfront Seychelles

Sherry, who was there throughout our three-night stay, was a gem, and all the staff were helpful and nice. The hotel is in a great spot, just eight minutes from the Airport, and we had an oceanfront suite with a nice balcony. The stained towels and sheets were replaced when we asked, but they shouldn’t have been put in the room in the first place. That was surprising for a “5-star” hotel. There’s no dinner service either, which seems limited for a hotel with that rating. There’s also construction next door, so expect some noise.

For 250€ a night for two people, without breakfast, we found it too expensive. Our room’s window looked straight at a wall, and the waterfront area is small and not especially charming, with a construction site on one side and a marina on the other. There’s a pool, but it didn’t change that impression. We thought the self-catering guest house where we stayed was better value. We spent our last holiday night here. It was clean and spacious, nicely decorated, and the staff were friendly.

For a property rated 5 stars, this was a major disappointment and poor value for money. We had a much better stay at 3- and 4-star hotels on this beautiful island. The place is tiny, with only five rooms, a very small pool, a meagre beachfront and a restaurant with just four tables. There’s no intercom to reach reception, so they set up a WhatsApp group, but nobody replied when I sent a request. We booked breakfast, but the set menu offered only two dishes to choose from. Most of the staff were nice, though one woman at the restaurant was grumpy the whole time, tactless and very unresponsive. This didn’t feel like a 5-star experience, especially for a property on Mahe island.

The lodge room was very comfortable and well equipped, and it was exceptionally clean. The staff were incredibly kind and helpful throughout our stay. The hotel is close to the highway between the port and airport, and there’s secure private parking. If you want to explore Mahe, I’d suggest having a car. One thing to improve would be the curtains. Our room got plenty of natural light, so it would be useful if one of the two curtains were blackout. I recommend the hotel for a comfortable stay in Mahe. It was our best choice here.
