Hotell Årjäng

The room for four was okay at best, with a tiny shower. The TV only had Swedish and Norwegian channels, and there was no way to connect a device for the kids to watch anything else. The Wi-Fi existed, but streaming or uploads and downloads were painfully slow. The kids tried to play Hearthstone and couldn’t even get it to load after ten minutes. Noise was another big issue. The walls are paper thin, so you hear a neighbor snoring. There are also youth with tuned-up, junky cars playing insanely loud music until 2 am. We were told it happens every day. That may not be the hotel’s fault, but they could at least tell guests in advance. The room itself was clean enough, but the entrance, restaurant, and dining and food areas were disgusting. We arrived for breakfast at 7:30 am to sticky floors that clearly hadn’t been cleaned, with food scraps, hair, dirt, and other nasty stuff all over. The food was abysmal, soggy and bland, with hardly any choice beyond what you’d expect from a smaller hotel. The juice was watered down to colored water, and the fruit platter was going brown and bad. Stay well clear. We won’t be back.

The rooms are comfortable and clean, and the hotel has all the necessary comforts. It’s in the peaceful town of Ärjäng and serves a standard international breakfast. This is the only hotel with a bowling alley I’ve ever come across in all of Europe!

I’ve only eaten at the restaurant. The food was good, and the lunch buffet and prices were both okay. But the huge soup lid was broken and kept falling, making a really annoying noise. Employees would come over and put it back, but never did anything else to fix it.

The room was stunning, spacious, and clean, and the location was great. Staff were friendly, the restaurant was good, and there were places to sit and relax. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty, so I’d highly recommend it. A couple of little things were missing: there was no water in the room as stated, and no spoons for making tea.
