Elite Grand Hotel Gävle

The location is great, and I really liked the breakfast, with its wide selection. I stayed three nights, though the room condition was disappointing for one of the more expensive rates. The room felt dated, and there were stains on both the carpet, including one large one, and the duvet. Parking was costly and a hassle. One morning I couldn’t get out because cars had been left in places that weren’t parking spaces. For that price, I’d like to see the parking area checked regularly and wrongly parked vehicles dealt with.

The room wasn’t especially large, but the bed was comfortable, and there’s a minibar with reasonable prices. The spa has a hot tub and two saunas. Staff were very polite and helpful. It’s a quiet, pleasant location just a few minutes’ walk from the city centre. There’s an optional car park across the street, but you need to book it ahead. The room has a shower in the bathroom, though not having temperature control was a downside.

A central base for exploring Gävle, and a comfortable, memorable stay. The hotel brings its 1901 heritage together with modern comforts and a refined feel. The architecture is beautiful, the rooms are spacious and well appointed, and the service is attentive. I also enjoyed the restaurant, while the spa is a relaxing place to unwind. Breakfast is included too. A grand and comfortable experience, whether you’re here for business or leisure.

Everything else was excellent, but the scrambled eggs tasted like synthetic plastic.
