The service and food were excellent, and there are several different dining rooms. You can also unwind in the spa with its pool bar or have a drink in the lovely library. Södertuna Castle is a distinctive old castle with a fascinating history, on a small island just outside Gnesta.

I spent a full day at Södertuna Castle for work recently, with lunch, Fika, and time to wander the grounds. I can’t believe I’d never heard of it before. The views are amazing, and the rooms, lavish seating, and 1800s style brought Downton Abbey to mind. The reading room was a highlight, and the whole visit felt like stepping into another era. I’d highly recommend it for a work event or a day out.

We attended a conference here. The food was good, and the place was nice in general. The spa and sauna fell short of what I’d expected.

The grounds are beautiful, though some upkeep is badly needed: paths are overgrown and stone steps are breaking apart. I visited for a wedding, and they seemed to handle that kind of event very well. The staff were lovely and excellent, but bar service during the party was limited. Dinner was good, just not as impressive as I’d expected at Kulturpärlor estates. The rooms in the relatively new wings were fine. For wedding guests, at least, the charge was per person rather than per room, though perhaps weekend visitors are charged differently. At that price, it felt overpriced. Breakfast was pretty good, but vegetarians and vegans had few choices.

The chefs serve incredible food with a polished presentation, and the dedicated, hardworking staff clearly care about their jobs. Their professional service was worthy of five stars. In picturesque Gnesta, Södertuna castle has stunning water views that would delight a photographer in any season. Don’t miss it, highly recommended.
