Best Western Tidbloms Hotel

The hotel was chosen through klm holidays, and it turned out to be fantastic. It's in a pleasant, quiet area near public transport. Rooms were clean, with lovely beds, and breakfast was very good in an atmospheric setting. The staff were nice and helpful. The one annoyance was that there was no Nutella for two days. I mentioned it to a breakfast employee, but it wasn't replenished because they had run out.

The breakfast buffet was the best I've had at any hotel. I stayed for about 18 nights while new to Sweden, and found the hotel standard high, including cleanliness, staff service, and building maintenance. Prices aren't especially competitive, but the quality is what you're paying for. The hotel restaurant and pub have a well-chosen Georgian menu, and all the dishes were good. Getting around was easy enough, with a bus and tram station five minutes away. There are two lovely, peaceful parks across the street, one on the plain and one on the hill. Near the tram stop are grocery shops, supermarkets, a few restaurants, and local stores. I'd definitely recommend it if budget isn't a constraint.

Good price, good location, and a very good breakfast. When I arrived, though, the room was so cold I had to wear winter clothes indoors. I plugged in the extra radiator, and it took about three hours to warm up.

I've stayed here twice and had no problems either time. Both times I checked in late, around 11pm, because flights from Manchester airport to Göteborg-Landvetter airport usually arrive late. Just tell the hotel if you'll arrive after desk hours, and they'll send the code for entry and access to your room key. The location is convenient, with an Ica (little supermarket for those that do not know) up the road and easy connections into the main city. Trams and buses run every 10 minutes, with simple links if you don't want to walk. My rooms were as advertised and clean on both visits. Once I accidentally stained the bedsheets with a drink, and I could get fresh ones before bed. I didn't try breakfast, so can't comment on that. The staff were helpful and fluent in English and Swedish. It's a quiet, cheaper alternative to many other places in Göteborg. It may look far from centralstation, but it really isn't that far.
