Clarion Hotel Draken

I’ve stayed here twice and would come back again. The rooms were very clean and had great views, and the hotel itself feels elegant and comfortable. Breakfast was amazing, with pretty much every option you could imagine. The mattress was very soft, which isn’t really my preference.

The location is fairly central, about a 10-15 minute walk from the city centre, but I’ll probably book somewhere else next time. Breakfast was average for Sweden, and you have to reserve a time. On Saturday the last slot was 10:30 am, even though they promise 45 minutes and breakfast ends at 11, the same time as checkout. The lobby looks luxurious, which made the room fall short of what I expected. The decor was nice, but the exposed concrete meant we could hear the hallway and neighbouring rooms. The bathroom felt cheaper than the rest and lacked things like cotton swaps. Cleanliness and upkeep need work: there were hairs on the pillows and dirt on the floor, and the loose curtains still hadn’t been fixed after I complained. There are lots of narrow windows, each with a dark curtain, so getting the room fully dark at night was difficult.

The service was wonderful everywhere, from reception and restaurant staff to housekeeping. Breakfast was a dream, with so much choice I couldn’t decide what to get. Our rooms were spotless, beautiful, comfortable, and very practical. We also loved the rooftop bar’s view over Gothenburg, though we personally liked the cocktails in the “Living Room” even more. A fantastic hotel, highly recommended!

My pre-ordered lunch wasn’t vegan, but they replaced it with a vegan option within five minutes and made it seem like no trouble at all. The hotel was beautiful, with great rooms and facilities, and the location was ideal. Everyone was friendly. I’d gladly stay here again.
