Hotel Lorensberg

The room was clean and comfortable, the staff were friendly, and breakfast was excellent. It was great value for the price, and I'd definitely come back if I visit Gothenburg again.

The room above was noisy, and I could hear footsteps at any hour, including 5am. Street traffic also carried on through the night, so light sleepers may struggle. Those were the reasons I wouldn't give it five stars. Otherwise, I was pleasantly surprised by this three-star hotel and would stay again on a business trip in a couple of months. My second-floor room was clean, with high ceilings, a bay window, what I think was a queen bed, and three pillows each. The bed was very comfortable, and there was a good-sized TV for relaxing. The bathroom and shared areas were very clean and well maintained. The rainfall shower had great pressure and was a pleasure to use. Breakfast was good, with a reasonable mix of hot and cold options: cold meats, salad, natural yoghurt with toppings, fresh bread, plenty of bacon, and nicely cooked scrambled eggs. Higher-end hotels do better, but I was happy with this and it set me up for the day. Coffee and tea are complimentary in the common area, with a simple sweet snack in the afternoon. Service was efficient and professional, though not especially warm. Restaurants are plentiful within a two-minute walk. It's a little outside the city centre and 15-20 minutes on foot from the train station.

The breakfast was great, and we even got breakfast to take away at 2:30AM because we had an early departure. The staff were incredibly friendly, and the sauna was free. Wonderful place, I'd love to visit again.

The room rate was quite reasonable compared with nearby hotels. Breakfast was nice, with plenty to choose from.
