Hotell City Avenyn

I picked it for the central location and just needed a simple place to sleep for the night, so it worked out fine. The room was cramped and worn, with a bit of dirt in the corners and cobwebs on the ceiling. Breakfast was okay, though the ingredients seemed cheap. Still, the hotel felt pretty decent overall.

Right in central Gothenburg, with a great location and friendly staff. It’s a basic bed-and-breakfast kind of place, with no extras. The triple room was a reasonable size, while the double rooms felt a little tight.

The location is great for nightlife and shopping, and the Swedish receptionist was very helpful. The Indian receptionist/manager, though, was rude and gave very poor service. Wi-Fi in the rooms was really weak, and the advertised laundry service, bar, and restaurant weren’t there. Breakfast and reception hours seemed inconsistent. You also have to request daily room cleaning, and they only replace the towels.

We walked over from the station in about 18 minutes, and there are shops and restaurants close by. Service was very good. We only stayed one night, but Gulprit at reception was helpful and looked after us well. Our room had no phone connection, and its bathroom was too small.
