Hotel Rusthållargården

Rusthållargården is simply our family’s favorite hotel and restaurant. We had another exceptional dinner there last Wednesday. The food was outstanding, and the service was too, including the help choosing suitable wines. Thank you!

Our room was clean and quiet, with an okay bed, but the service had too many glitches. The rooftop bar is nice, yet ordering through its smartphone website was an irritating, painfully slow process. The site accepts very few payment options: it doesn’t take Amex, and only lists “Card” or the very Swedish “Swish,” leaving limited choices, especially for non-Swedes. It took about 15 minutes and three different cards to place our order, while three waiters served just 6-10 tables. Several tables needed help with the app. Choosing a web app instead of native apps was a small plus, but please improve it, move away from Nets if it can’t process people’s payments, and improve the service generally. The restaurant food was so-so, and the staff again seemed clueless about service. For example, my wine didn’t arrive until after the main dish. I had the meat, and it was far from tender.

I enjoyed a very nice three-course dinner, and the rooms are clean and pleasant. The bed was a good experience too. The wellness and spa area, though, is too small and not very cleverly designed. Painting it all white and removing the fake-looking rocks might make it feel fresher instead of like a cave. I also don’t understand why the sauna is inside something that looks like a little house within a house.

The view is fabulous, and the staff are friendly and apologetic about the leadership. But ordering food by QR code requires you to register a full account, and the menu is simplistic. Addendum: it took an hour for the food to arrive, and one of us didn’t get any.
