Elisefarm

The team gave us a warm welcome and some nice recommendations, and we enjoyed browsing the boutique's beautiful products. Our bright, clean, modern room had its own bathroom and was near a shared balcony. We also liked having a lounge with board games and shuffleboard. Elisefarm itself is modern and nicely decorated, and we had a lovely overnight stay. Maybe we'll get to try the spa next time 🙂

The grounds were lovely and peaceful, and the overnight stay for our work workshop was pleasant. Finding reception wasn't so easy: we first went to the clubhouse, and the sign for the main building was tucked behind it. The food could use improvement too. My sirloin was too rare, and the rice seemed a little undercooked.

It’s a peaceful setting with a distant lake view, though the lake is across the freeway and the grounds are very golf centered. We tried to take a walk and wound up on the course because we couldn't find any other paths from the hotel. Sleep was difficult. The walls are extremely thin, and through the locked connecting door I could hear every word of my colleague's call home. From 6am, hallway sounds like doors, showers, and luggage came through as if they were in my room. Better insulation would make a big difference. The scent in the building was pleasant at first, but much too strong in the reception and upstairs fika lounge. It got in the way of enjoying food and gave one colleague a headache. Meeting room windows don't open, which made the smell feel worse, and the handle was broken, apparently from someone trying before us. The gym and pool are advertised, but the outdoor pool is only open in summer, and the gym is closed indefinitely with only vague talk of restoring it. Public transit is possible but awkward. Fogdarp bus stop is a 1 km walk along a large road beside the noisy E 22Highway. Leave extra time to get under the highway for the return bus toward Lund and Malmö. Service and food were inconsistent. Around half the reception and restaurant staff were helpful and friendly; the rest were hard to find or approach, so raising problems on site was difficult. Dinner was excellent, while lunch and breakfast were decent but not great. We found it odd that the server opened the recommended wine, which wasn't included, before asking what we wanted, then pushed it hard and seemed reluctant to bring the list or serve something else. At dinner we got one bottle of tap water, and when it was empty it wasn't refilled. I had to go into the kitchen to ask.

The room itself was nice, but the toilet paper holder is placed right under the towel warming hooks, which is a ridiculous bit of design. Walls are paper thin too, so you hear everything next door. The staff were nice, though it took more than 20 minutes and a second reminder before someone relit the fireplace in the waiting room. The location is nice. The spa setup is a mess. In the steam sauna, the heater sits directly below the cold shower tap, good luck grabbing that. The dry sauna has tiled floors and seats, and there's nowhere comfortable to sit without getting burned. When the spa bubbles ran in the pump room beside it, it sounded like cleaners running vacuums during a pit stop. The three-course meal was a 6/10 and the coffee wasn't worth it. The rum and ginger drink, though, was 🔥.
