Scandic Klarälven

Friendly staff, good food, and a great location for the money. The rooms were okay, standard Scandic. Please keep even the red wines a little chilled, though. They also need to train their trainees better, ours seemed really lost. And there should be more EV chargers. The six there are slow.

The staff were the best part of my stay at Scandic Klarälven. They were helpful and friendly, and the support I got when I had room issues was amazing, even though the room itself was a bit outdated. “Welcome to Värmland in Sweden ” ❤️🥰 At the restaurant, there are weekday non-menu options at a very good price, including a buffet with salad. The “Shrimp Sandwich” was fantastic. The Chef got the mayonnaise just right with the bread and lettuce, and there were plenty of Shripm's. Five out of five for that dish. Parking is included with the stay. You get a voucher to put in your car window.

The pool was closed without any warning, even though we chose this hotel specifically for it. They just said it wasn't available, with no explanation or compensation. That was the worst part, but the whole stay was a nightmare. Our room was tiny and filthy, and smelled like moldy garbage. There were big black patches of mold on the walls and in the bathroom. It felt like sleeping in a wet, rotting closet. Breakfast was disgusting too, with stale bread, sour juice, and rubbery eggs that looked like they'd been microwaved a week ago. I wouldn't feed them to a stray dog. The staff were incredibly rude. No smiles, help, or basic manners. When we politely raised the room's condition and smell, they shrugged it off like it was normal. No apology or care at all. If you value your money, time, health, or sanity, don't stay here. This hotel should be condemned. 0/10, never again. Absolutely revolting.

We were in Karlstad for a floorball tournament, and the hotel experience fell short of what we expected and what it claims to offer. Our youth group was under 18, but we were properly organized and supervised by responsible adults. When we asked to use the pool, staff said we couldn't because we were underage. We initially accepted that rules are rules, but they still refused when we offered to swim with our adult supervisors. There was no real explanation, just a blunt no. Later, we saw other guests who also appeared to be under 18 using the pool late at night without consequences. That felt deeply unfair and gave us the impression that different rules were being applied. We raised our concerns with staff as a group and through the adults accompanying us. They seemed indifferent and unwilling to listen, and their communication lacked respect and professionalism. A hotel that hosts youth teams should be able to treat them fairly and courteously, but that wasn't our experience. Beyond that, the facilities themselves were disappoint
