STF Hostel Karlstad

I was there for work and only needed somewhere to sleep, so it suited me very well. The building and rooms are old, though they're in pretty good condition for the low price. Everything was nice and clean, the staff were very nice, and breakfast was good. It's about a 25-30 minute walk from the train station.

The price was good, and I'd recommend staying here. The rooms are spacious, though a little old-fashioned, and the bathrooms and cleanliness were alright. It's close to the highway, with an easy walk into the city centre. Check-in is only open for four hours, but they call to make sure you'll arrive in time. Sheets and towels aren't included, though you can bring your own or pay for them, and breakfast costs extra too. They were still kind and tried to help with requests.

Sharing one bathroom and shower among the 12 or 14 rooms on my floor could've been a nightmare, but luckily there weren't many guests during my stay. My room was pretty basic. Breakfast was the worst I've had at a hotel, with barely any choice, and having to pay extra for it, as well as for bed linen, wasn't great. I probably wouldn't recommend this place.

The walk from the train station takes 30 minutes, but this hostel is worth it. The staff are lovely, the kitchen is amazing, and the other residents are kind. Thank you so much!
