Abisko Mountain Lodge

We stayed in March 2025 and had a great time. The location is excellent, close to Abisko National Park and slightly uphill, with a nice view of the lake. We ate dinner at the wonderful restaurant on both nights. Our room was fairly basic and near the restaurant, so it got a bit loud while diners were there. I’d definitely stay again.

The staff were amazing, friendly, and helpful, and the food was very good for the price. The wine pairings were spot on. We also enjoyed the beautiful hiking trails in snow boots rented at the lodge. Our superior room was spacious, stylish, and clean. The cosy lobby and restaurant had a pleasant living-room feel. Such a lovely place!

We stayed four nights in a twin room. It was very small, with the beds in an L-shape. With two big suitcases, we could only open one at a time, there was barely room to move, and the bed was the only place to sit. The lack of personal space was fine for us as sisters, though I can imagine it being an issue for others. The room had lots of sockets, lights, and clothing racks, plus headboards with space for small things and a shelf beside each bed for charging a phone. There were two cups in the room and a hot water fountain in the public area. The bathroom had shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, and body lotion, more than we usually find at European hotels. Both the bedroom and bathroom were clean and tidy. The staff were professional, friendly, and generally helpful. Noise depended on the neighbors: one night we had a couple with young kids, and the rest of the time a quiet couple. I could hear the person next door snoring. We passed other accommodations on our tour pickups and got a sense of their atmosphere. Even with the small room, I’d still recommend Abisko Mountain Lodge.

The lodge’s food was a real highlight. After a day out exploring, the dishes were high quality, comforting, and still felt a little special. Abisko Mountain Lodge is beautiful and cosy, with a warm welcome that’s especially nice after being out in the cold. The rooms are comfortable and thoughtfully arranged, and the place feels intimate and peaceful rather than busy or commercial. It’s surrounded by striking Arctic scenery and close to some of the best Northern Lights viewing spots. The setting feels remote in a good way, while still having what you need right there. A memorable, relaxing stay in Abisko, with a touch of luxury.
