They don’t really advertise the best part, the view. I’m surprised they don’t show it off more! The cabin cleaning fee is intense, though they provide all the supplies to make the job easy.
The only issue was the thick layer of ice that built up on the steps to our cabin. We kept slipping as we went in and out. Otherwise, my late February stay was great. The cabins were cozy and comfortable, and the kitchen was fine, with clean pots and pans when we used them. There wasn’t much of a view from inside, but a short walk outdoors opened up a breathtaking lake view. We also saw auroras during our visit.
Fantastic surroundings and great service. Special thanks to Lovisa for sorting out the skis.
For 230 euros, we booked the “luxe” chalet because nothing else was available. Parking is a little way off, and in the snowstorm it was hard to walk the snowy road with our luggage. In good weather, the cabin has beautiful views. The entrance hall has been renovated and includes a sauna, and the kitchen is updated and comfortable to use, with enough equipment for two people. But the rest of the house is old and not cozy, and it doesn’t look like the website pictures. The bathroom is old but functional. The living room sofa and bed weren’t comfortable, and the TV’s awkwardly placed in a corner. The cheap, flat pillows need replacing. We asked for better ones and someone brought some over. They were slightly better, and we appreciated the service. The blackout system on the window didn’t work properly. For that price, the cabin needs a full renovation and some decoration to make it feel cozier. “Luxe” doesn’t fit. We were given a list of cleaning tasks, with a 250 euros charge if we didn’t do them, which didn’t feel welcoming. At checkout, the road had been cleared, but the snow was piled right in front of our door at the end of it. We struggled to get out for 15 minutes. We know clearing all the snow is hard, but piling it against a door? The hotel service is great, but the cabins aren’t in good condition and cost too much for what you get.
There are scenic lake views nearby, the private saunas are well designed, and the WiFi stayed fully connected all day. Most cabins are only a stone’s throw from the car park, but the lights attached to every cabin make it hard to see the Northern Lights from inside. You have to pay extra for bed linen and towels, and hand soap isn’t included, so I’d bring your own. Edit: There’s no cleaning service, so we’re expected to vacuum, fold the sheets and leave the room spotless. It takes close to an hour to clear everything, which feels entirely unnecessary.
