Hotel Chaplin

I've been coming back for 20 years, and I will definitely return. I hope the hotel keeps its vintage charm as it changes. I got to talk with the new owner, who has big plans: a new image and concept, plus renovations to the rooms, bathrooms, and reception. After seeing some of those plans, I believe this little place could become something special, and I can't wait to see it shine again after more than 20 years. The friendly staff and the owner's dedication made my stay enjoyable. The hotel is old-fashioned, but clean and cozy, with what you need for a comfortable stay. I think some reviews are unfair and don't reflect the reality. Breakfast is simple, but has what you need, and is better than at some large hotel chains. Its location is very good: the city center is an easy walk, with plenty of shops, grocery stores, restaurants, and bars nearby. There are good parking options around and behind the hotel. The station is easy to reach by bus or taxi, and the beach, sea, Citadel, and several parks are close enough for relaxing walks. For the future, I'd love to see rooms with a large sofa, a desk or workspace, cozy vintage-style lighting, and bathrooms that are a little more modern. A comfortable bar with fair prices where guests can spend the evening would be nice, too. All the best to the new owner with this huge project.

The staff were kind and accommodating, even after reception had closed. We sorted things out over the phone. The old-fashioned style has some charm, but there were downsides: an unpleasant smell like an 80s plastic rug hits you as soon as you enter, and it was in the room as well. Opening the window made it less strong. The room quality wasn't great and a few spots needed cleaning, though it was fine overall. Breakfast was ordinary, nothing special.

The receptionist was very kind and helpful, but that couldn't make up for the hotel's condition. It was overpriced and run-down, with a bad smell, poor cleanliness, and a need for redecoration. The location wasn't good either, and breakfast was disappointing.

Room 106 was in terrible shape: the floor and carpet were dirty, paint was peeling, and the lamp was barely attached. The hygiene was awful, and it seemed like there'd been no repairs or maintenance for 20 years. There was also a bad smell. I don't recommend staying here. Zero stars!
